Happy New Year

Firstly,   I hope you all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

As we enter 2011, I can not help but to think about what new changes it may bring. 2010 was a year of adversity, growth for some, learning for all, and strengthening for those of us still standing.

We have seen the digital era show it’s might in full force. From digital magazines, ipad apps, to the Nook, Kindle, and Ipad. Printers have attempted to bring the web into the printed product with QR Codes, and becoming more active on social media sites. Printers are no longer just companies that put “ink on paper” and Publishers are no longer people that produce only one marketing tool.

As we continue to strive to integrate all aspects of marketing communications, it leaves me to wonder what could possibly be next? The answer is I have no idea, well I have some idea, but only speculation. Regardless of what comes next, I look forward to embracing those changes, adapting to our ever changing landscape, and becoming the best that I can be.

Let’s look forward to the future with great optimism, excitement, and the readiness to adapt. I know 2010 may have not been the greatest year for Publishers and Printers alike, but through this year we have all gotten stronger and better.

The only for sure thing is that the landscape is going to continue to change, whether you keep up is up to you, but I hope to see you all along side me on this marathon with a smile!

Happy New Year & Best of everything for 2011!

Understand your print management objectives when setting up new business

When a new business launches, there are a lot of important decisions to be made. The last thing a new business owner typically thinks about is securing the various graphic and printed products used for communications with other businesses, clients, and potential clients. This is an understandable, but unfortunate oversight, as printed materials, such as business cards, letterhead, brochures, data sheets, etc., are a critical part of establishing a positive brand for your company and should be taken seriously.

When conducting due diligence for sourcing your graphic materials, automation is a key issue to keep in mind. That’s because many companies find themselves wanting to communicate to clients or potential customers via mail and as a result send out a large number of individualized flyers that all need to be personally addressed to unique recipients. This can obviously be very costly and time consuming. However, if you select a printing company with an automated system in place to handle such a job, the mailers can be ordered online, printed, and delivered to meet your individual needs with no inventory or the need to create a store room.

Selecting a printing company that is nimble, accessible, and technologically specialized can typically save a new company hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost over other alternatives

How easy Online printing can be

Online printing is one of the more helpful innovations in making printing accessible to people. Online printing allows you to have access to printing companies even without going to the printing company in person. This makes it very convenient for you to place your orders anytime and anywhere you are.

Having your prints done is very easily done through online printers. You can send and order your prints online in just three simple steps:

Upload:

If you have your designs with you in your hard drive or any storage device, just connect to the internet and access the printing company’s website. Pick the product that you want printed and click on the button that let’s you submit your file to printer. For files that are above 50 MB in size, you should find the FTP file server of the printing and upload your files there. The FTP server allows you to upload large files at very high speeds.

Approve the proof:

After uploading your files, the printing company will send you a pdf proof of your design thru e-mail. Carefully examine the proof before approving it. The proof acts as your final chance to change anything in your design before it is sent to the printer. It is also the last time in which you can check for any errors that you may have missed. Remember that after you approve the proof, the printing company is no longer liable for any mistakes that you may have missed and you will have no choice but to re-print your materials. Checking the proofs thoroughly is a very important task that you should not ignore.

Wait:

After the proofs are submitted and approved. The only thing you need to worry about is telling the printing company where they will deliver your materials. You can specify the exact location of where you want your prints delivered – at home, at the office or directly to your clients…..

A few ground rules for Business Calendar Printing

Lots of businesses invest in calendar printing for promotional purposes. Many even print calendars just for the sole purpose of doing year around advertising campaigns

This has proven effective for many of them, garnering increased interest in products and a better business reputation. That’s kind of cool right? However, before you go and do your own calendar printing for business, let me give you a few ground rules in business calendar printing. These rules should help you maintain a professional quality of business calendars that are a match for most professional calendars out there.

1.  Check your competition – It is important that you always see if your competition also has their own custom business calendars. You of course will want to develop a color calendar that is distinctly different and far more impressive that your competition. So make sure that before your create your designs and go for calendar printing, you have checked all the promotional materials that your competition has deployed. Design your color calendars accordingly if your competition has their own promotional calendars.

2.  Do your homework – Another important rule for business color calendars is to always do your market research homework first. Market research is important because custom calendars for business are precise tools that should be fine tuned to its market. You should know what are the best designs, the best images and the best calendar printing configurations to use that will attract the most number of people in your market. Hence, before doing any permanent design and printing decisions for your custom calendars it is crucial for you to do your market research homework.

3.  Get professional design and printing help – Another good rule to follow is to get professional design and printing help for printing calendars. Not everyone of course can print calendars on their own, and if you really want to have the best looking professional calendars for business, only professionals can help you make them. Try to hire a professional photographer for your calendar images, as well as a professional layout artist in making your designs. Of course, hiring a professional calendar printing company should also be in your agenda so that your business card printing turns out well.

In terms of the business card printer, I recommend that you go online to do this. Online calendar printing is possible since lots of business card printing

companies now have their own websites put up. You just order your color calendars online for a convenient and easy experience of calendar printing.

4.  Use manageable calendar sizes – You should also always use manageable calendar sizes, particularly for business calendars. You will of course not want to print calendars that are too large or too bulky for most people to carry and take home. So it is best to use standard calendar sizes built for mobility. Do not go for those overly large calendar templates. Anything from a standard poster sized calendar and smaller should do well. Trust me, more people will be buying or getting your custom calendars with standard sizes.

5.  Choose only quality materials – Quality is important in calendar printing, and for business calendar printing this is doubly so. You should always choose only quality calendar printing materials that will help your calendars last for the whole year. Thick paper materials as well as special glossy water resistant coats are a must for any calendar so that they can be tough enough to last for a long time, even with exposure to many kinds of physical damage.

This may add some extra costs to your calendar printing, but believe me, it is well worth it for your business calendars. So always try to spend on quality materials for calendar printing.
